The Supreme Court’s decision to rehear a Texas case about race and college admissions is being closely watched on campuses around the state, including the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where a vice chancellor says a diverse medical workforce is critical for addressing health disparities in the city and region.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges board of trustees has approved the accreditation of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center as a separate university, according to an announcement from the school.
The conference is at the University of Tennessee Student Alumni Center on Madison.
