GTx strikes deal with UT Research Foundation

Memphis-based GTx Inc. has entered into a license agreement with the University of Tennessee Research Foundation. The agreement will result in GTx developing new therapies that can aid in the treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer, which were created at the University of Tennessee.

UTHSC researchers receive more than $1.5 million in grants

A study covering the regulation of rapid eye movement sleep at UTHSC has received a four-year grant worth $1.4 million from the National Institute of Mental Health, a subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health.

Marie Chisholm-Burns Recognition

UT Health Science Center’s Marie Chisholm-Burns, PharmD, MPH, MBA, will give the keynote address at the 2015 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium 25th Annual Health Sciences Program at the University of Michigan. Her topic is “Unity not Uniformity: A Spotlight on Health Disparities.

Another UTHSC researcher scores $1.5M grant

For the second time this week, a professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center has been awarded a million dollar grant. Christopher Waters, a professor and vice chair in the Department of Physiology, has received a grant totaling $1.5 million from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health.  


Heart Institute at Le Bonheur names Dr. Jeffrey Towbin as director

Jeffrey Towbin has been named co-director of the Heart Institute at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, chief of Cardiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and chief of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
