Dr. Karen C. Johnson, who has brought more than $40 million in research dollars to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and is the principal investigator on five currently funded research grants or contracts, has been awarded the UTHSC College of Medicine Endowed Professorship in Women’s Health.
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is set to revamp its campus, and the school will host a public information session on the development of a new master plan Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Student-Alumni Center Dining Hall, 800 Madison Ave.
Susan Miranda, assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has received a five-year grant totaling $1.6 million from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, a subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health.
“Memphis was the epicenter for that,” said Dr. Jon McCullers, pediatrician in chief for Le Bonheur and chairman of the pediatrics department at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. “We dealt with that then. I think we are appropriately prepared to deal with this now.”
Clint W. Snyder, PhD, MBA, has been appointed as the senior associate dean and chair for the new Department of Medical Education in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Medicine.
Dr. John Douglas Seeberg has been named the inaugural associate dean of extramural affairs in the College of Dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, effective immediately. Dr. Cassandra Howard has been named the medical director for the emergency department at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
