Hundreds of students, faculty, and staff members signed banners with the words, “hate has no place at UTHSC” and “UTHSC is united against hate.” Thursday’s observance comes after several high-profile hate crimes in the country, including the recent mass shooting at a Jewish synagogue in Pennsylvania.


$300,000 Grant Helps To Fund UTHSC Research For Cure For Pancreatic Cancer

A $300,000 grant is aimed at helping find a cure for pancreatic cancer. University of Tennessee Health Science Center has been researching a cure for years, but thanks to this grant from the Kosten Foundation for pancreatic cancer, they are one step closer.

Dr. Debendra Pattanaik, and associate professor of medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, headed up the study. He says a bite from the Lone Star Tick can cause people to become more sensitive to a carbohydrate called alpha-gal.

On Saturday, July 21, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center will host the second-annual GoBabyGo! Memphis Rodeo. Since January, students in the Physical Therapy Department have partnered with engineering students from the University of Memphis to modify toy ride-in cars for children with mobility issues, which they’ll receive at the event.
