Faisal Hussain, MD, CCDS, CDIP, CCS, a second-year student in the Master of Heath Informatics and Information Management program in the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, was recently featured in the official blog for the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS). The organization shares the latest tips, tools and strategies with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) professionals to implement successful clinical data integrity and achieve professional growth.
Dr. Hussain, who has been a member of the organization since 2015, shared his experiences about the field and how he came to be involved in the profession. “I’ve been in CDI for six years,” he said. “In addition to medicine, I have always enjoyed teaching and numbers. In fact, had it not been for med school, I would have likely become an actuarial science major. CDI really gave me an opportunity to merge it all.”
Dr. Hussain is the vice president of CDI Solutions for Reventics, a provider engagement company. In this role, he is responsible for CDI product and solutions enhancement, and for overseeing programs at various client locations, along with supporting provider education and engagement.
Dr. Hussain is currently serving on the ACDIS Leadership Council and ACDIS Regulatory Committee, and is a regular speaker at various conferences and forums, including the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Annual Convention and the annual ACDIS Conference. He has also been a speaker on AHIMA19 Conference Webcast, as well as multiple ACDIS Podcast episodes, a bi-weekly live podcast covering the hottest topics in CDI.
