Dr. Fulton most recently served as associate director in Student Affairs and Community Engagement, and previously held the position of senior equity assurance administrator in the Office of Equity and Diversity. He has been with UTHSC since 2014. In his new role, Dr. Fulton will report to Catherine Womack, MD, associate dean for Student Affairs and Admissions.

“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Fulton already leading our efforts to admit the College of Medicine’s 2025 medical school class,” said Dr. Womack. “Dr. Fulton has an amazing skill set and has done a wonderful job in the short time that he has been working with our Admissions team. He has worked with our Student Ambassadors to show our incoming students the welcoming and inclusive culture we have at UTHSC and led our efforts to use online scheduling for all interviews. I am proud of the outstanding doctors that we produce, and I believe that Dr. Fulton will continue to help us recruit the best of the best as he moves into the permanent position of assistant dean for Admissions.”

Dr. Fulton will oversee and direct all operations and programs related to the admittance of medical students to the College of Medicine, including managing the operations of the college’s Office of Admissions. He will develop and implement recruitment strategies that link the College of Medicine mission to the admission of a diverse group of students and assist in evaluating the outcomes of the admissions process. His role will also include overseeing the college’s New Student Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, and other special programs.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the College of Medicine and University in this role,” Dr. Fulton said. “I am most excited for the opportunity to continue assisting the college’s ongoing efforts to recruit highly qualified medical students from diverse backgrounds and supporting their professional goals. I look forward to forging strong relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders that will lead to greater collaboration as we educate and train the next generation of physicians.”

Dr. Fulton has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He earned a master’s degree in Leadership and Policy Studies with a concentration in Student Personnel and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration, both from the University of Memphis.
