College of Medicine – Chattanooga Physicians Recognized on 2025 Top Doctors List

More than one-third of the Chattanooga physicians on the 2025 Top Doctors list from HealthScope magazine are affiliated with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Chattanooga.

HealthScope partnered with national health care firm Castle Connelly to compile the list of outstanding physicians in the area. This is the first year the magazine has produced the list.

Of the 108 physicians on the list, 38 are affiliated with the UT Health Science Center College of Medicine in Chattanooga.

“We are incredibly proud of our faculty and alumni who have been recognized on this year’s Top Doctors List,” said James Haynes, MD, MBA, FAAFP, professor and dean of the College of Medicine – Chattanooga. “These accolades reflect our physicians’ unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care, medical education, research, and community service. Their dedication not only elevates the standard of care in our community but also inspires the next generation of physicians who will be serving our region for decades to come. We celebrate their achievement and the impact they have on so many patients and learners.”

The recognition of these clinician-educators speaks to the excellence that is present at UT Health Science Center, which trains the majority of the physician workforce throughout the state of Tennessee. 

This endorsement also highlights the dedicated work of the physicians at the College of Medicine – Chattanooga, as they practice, teach, and conduct research for the benefit of the region. 

Physicians at the College of Medicine – Chattanooga care for patients at the institution’s affiliated teaching hospital, Erlanger Health. This includes the hospital system’s six locations: Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, Erlanger Baroness, Erlanger-Bledsoe Hospital, Erlanger East Hospital, Erlanger North Hospital, and Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital; with the primary training facility being the main hospital, Erlanger Baroness.
